Tasman Starlings

The Tasman Starlings (Aplonis fusca) formerly occurred on Norfolk Island and Lord Howe Island between Australia and New Zealand.

This race were first described in 1836 by John Gould. In 1928, Ornithologist Gregory Mathews noted that the plumage of the race occurring on Lord Howe Island was much browner and more greyish than the plumage of the Norfolk Island race and, therefore, the species was split into two forms:
