The Pale-blue Monarch, Hypothymis puella, is a small passerine bird that is endemic to eastern Indonesia.


Subspecies:

  • The nominate race, H. p. puella, is found on Sulawesi and adjacent islands, and

  • H. p. blasii is found in the Banggai archipelago.

Some consider these subspecies of the Black-naped Monarch, Hypothymis azurea.


Nesting / Breeding

They raise their young in small cup nests.

Diet / Feeding

They mostly feed on insects, often hunted by flycatching.
