The Moheli Scops Owl, Otus moheliensis, is endemic to the Comoro Islands (volcanic islands situated off the south-east coast of Africa).
It is only found on one mountain on the island of Mohéli and has an estimated population of 400, and is, therefore, classified as Critically Endangered due to habitat destruction by deforestation.
