Madagascar Sacred Ibis Threskiornis bernierThe Malagasy Sacred Ibis (Threskiornis bernieri) is found in Madagascar and Seychelles, where it inhabits subtropical or tropical mangrove forests, estuarine waters, intertidal flats, and coastal saline lagoons. This species is threatened by habitat loss.

Diet / Feeding

They mostly feed on fish, frogs and other water creatures, as well as on insects.


Breeding / Nesting

The nests are shallow cup-shaped platforms of sticks, grasses or reeds that are typically situated on trees near a body of water, such as rivers, swamps or lakes. The average clutch consists of 2 – 4 eggs.
