Jameson's Firefinches (Lagonosticta rhodopareia) occur naturally in Southern Africa where they are generally common.

These seed and grain feeding birds are specifically native to the following countries: Angola, Botswana, Chad, The Democratic Republic of the Congo, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Malawi, Mali, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Sudan, Swaziland, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
