The Flame-fronted Barbets (Megalaima armillaris) - also known as Blue-crowned Barbets or Orange-fronted Barbets - are Asian Barbets that are endemic to Indonesia, where they live in subtropical or tropical moist lowland and montane forests.

    • Found on the island of Java (Indonesia).

  • Megalaima armillaris baliensis (Rensch, 1928)
    • Found on the island of Bali (Indonesia).

Flame-fronted Barbet (Megalaima armillaris) Diet / Feeding

Flame-fronted Barbets mostly feed on fruits, but will also eat a wide range of insects, such as ants, cicadas, dragonflies, crickets, locusts, beetles, moths and mantids.

 

Breeding / Nesting

They nest in tree holes and hens usually lay 2 to 4 eggs, which are incubated for 13 to 15 days.
