The Fasciated Tiger Herons (Tigrisoma fasciatum) are members of the bird genus Tigrisoma or "Tiger Herons."
They occur naturally in Central and South America, specifically they are found in the countries of Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Mexico, Panama, Peru, and Venezuela, and are vagrants in Nicaragua.
They are usually seen in or near rivers.
Three Subspecies are currently recognized:
- Fasciated Tiger Heron, Tigrisoma fasciatum
- Tigrisoma fasciatum fasciatum (nominate form) - Range: Southeastern Brazil to northeastern Argentina
- Tigrisoma fasciatum pallescens - Range: Northwestern Argentina
- Tigrisoma fasciatum salmoni - Range: Costa Rica to Venezuela and northern Bolivia
