Empidonax

Yellow-bellied Flycatcher
Tyrant Flycatchers

The bird genus Empidonax includes a group of small insect-eating birds of the tyrant flycatcher family (Tyrannidae).

The empidonax flycatchers are similar in apperance and are very difficult to tell apart. They are mostly olive above with paler under parts, wing bars and eye rings. The most effective way to differentiate them is by habitat, range and voice in the breeding season.

They often flick their wings and tails rapidly.
