Curl-crested Manucode

The Curl-crested Manucode (Manucodia comrii) is common in its home range in Papua New Guinea, where it is found on the Trobriand Islands and islands of the D'Entrecasteaux Archipelago.

 

Description

The Curl-crested Manocode was named for its curled head feathering.

It measures approximately 43cm in length.

This bird of paradise has a glossy purple, black and green plumage, red eyes and crinkled yellowish-green upper breast and neck feathers.It has twisted central tail feathers.

Males and females are very similar with a slightly smaller female.

 

Diet / Feeding

Its diet consists mainly of fruits.
