Distribution: Tropical forests of northern South America.
Size: 35-37 cm in length.
Plumage: The body is bright green, with yellow on the head, dark scallop pattern on the neck, red at the bend of the wing, and yellow thighs. The flight feathers are black to bluish-violet with a red patch on the outer feathers. The base of the tail also has a red patch. The outer tail feathers have yellowish tips. The legs and beak are pale and the eyes are red with white eyerings.
