Description:

Size: 43-54 cm in length with a 55-65 cm wingspan.

Plumage: Generally black with large white wing patches, a yellow beak and face patch giving the species its name an,d a long, wedge-shaped, iridescent greenish-black tail. Juveniles have a blackish beak and lack the bare face patch of the adult. The legs and eyes are black.
