Wood Sandpiper

Range:

North America (avoiding the central parts) and southern parts of Canada.

Description:

These medium-sized ducks measure from 19 - 21 inches (47 - 54 cm) in length.

Males have a beautiful, colorful iridescent plumage and red eyes, with a distinctive white flare down their necks.

Females are brownish in color with white eye-rings and whitish throats.

Both genders have crested heads.
