Distribution: Subtropical and tropical forests of South America.


Size: 18-19 cm in length.

Plumage: Generally dark brown on the head and back and streaked light to medium brown on the underside, with two bold dark facial stripes, a scale pattern on the upper wings and rufous-edged tail feathers. The eyes, beak, and legs are black.
