Description:

Size: 36-40 cm in length with a 109-116 cm wingspan, weighing 300-570 g.

Plumage:  Males are dark slate gray in color, with a red beak, face, and feet. Females and juveniles have brown uppersides and a heavily streaked breast, a yellow beak, and orange legs and feet. The eyes are dark red in both sexes.
