Ruddy Ground-Dove

Range:

Found in Mexico south to Peru, Brazil and Paraguay, and northern Argentina, as well as on the islands of Trinidad and Tobago.  Some birds have been reported in the southwestern USA - from southern Texas to southernmost California.

Description:

These small, short-tailed pigeons measure about 17 cm in length.

Males are rufous-colored above (grey-brown in females), with black spots on the wing coverts (feathers), and pale grey head and neck. Below they are a paler brown.  The tail is edged black.  The wings below are cinnamon and black.
