Description:

Size: 9-11 cm in length with a 16-18 cm wingspan, weighing 5-10 g.

Plumage:  Olive green overall, with some darker streaking on the wings. There are two white wing bars and one dark bar. Males have a tuft of red feathers on the crown, kept concealed unless the bird is stimulated. The legs are yellowish-brown and the beak and eyes are black.
