Description:

Size: 14-16 cm in length with a 21-26 cm wingspan.

Plumage: The male has a black head and throat, white neck collar and underparts, and a chestnut brown back and wing streaked with black. The female is much duller, with a streaked brown head, and has more distinct dark brown streaks on the underside. Both have dark brown to black beaks, light brown legs, and black eyes.
