Distribution: Northern and central Asia in summer; Southeast Asia in winter.

Description:

Size: 13-14 cm in length with a 20-23 cm wingspan.

Plumage: Adult males have a black head and throat, white neck collar and underparts, and a gray back and wing mantle heavily streaked with black and brown. The tail and flight feathers are dark brown bordered with tawny yellow. Females are much duller in color, with a streaked brown head. Both sexes have a gray beak and black eyes with a white semicircle behind them.
