Olive Sparrow

Other Names: Texas Sparrow, Green Finch

Distribution: Discontinuously throughout coastal regions of Mexico and Nicaragua; may be found in south Texas.

Description:

Size: 17-18 cm in length with a 21-25 cm wingspan.

Plumage: This sparrow has a distinct olive-colored back and wing mantle that gives the species its name. It has a prominent brown eye streak and a brown-striped crown, with a gray breast and flanks with a white rump, and a bill that is brown on top and off-white on the bottom. Juveniles are slightly lighter in color with some light streaks on the back.
