Mourning Dove

Other Names: Turtle Dove, American Mourning Dove, Rain Dove, Carolina Pigeon, Carolina Turtledove

Distribution : resident in the United States and Mexico; can be found north to Canada in summer and south through Central America in winter.

Description:

Size: 30-31 cm in length.

Plumage: Soft, sandy brown overall with a long pointed tail bordered with white and small black spots on the wings. The wing mantle may be olive-brown to brownish-gray in some populations. The legs are pink and the beak and eyes are black.
