Description:

Size: 11-13 cm in length.

Plumage: Males are deep green above and black below, with an iridescent purple forehead and crown and metallic-green gorget. Females are olive green above and gray below, with a lightly streaked throat and light gray tips on the outer tail feathers. Juveniles are heavily flecked with iridescent green on the undersides. The beak and eyes are black.
