Distribution: southwest United States and central Mexico.

Description:

Size: 9-10 cm in length.

Plumage: Males are iridescent green, with a green crown and long purple gorget. Their undersides are off-white to light brown on the flanks. They have a pointed forked tail.. Females are buff below and lack the forked tail. The eyes and long curved beak are black.
