Distribution / Breeding:

Breed across the taiga of the far northeast of Europe and northern Asia.  Winter in northern India, southern China and the northern parts of southeast Asia. Vagrants have been reported in western Europe.

The Little Bunting has been named for its small size.  It measures 12 - 13.5 cm in length, including the tail.

The back is heavily streaked brown.  Below it is whitish with fine dark streaking.

The face is chestnut-colored with white (cheek) stripes. Males and females look alike.
