Distribution: eastern South America, from Venezuela to Argentina.

Description:

Size: 36-38 cm in length with a 86-91 cm wingspan.

Plumage: Both sexes have a dark grey mantle and short dark grey tail with a black cap, and a white breast, belly, chin, cheeks, and throat. Small black primary feathers and white secondaries on the bend of the wing are distinct in flight. The large yellow beak is diagnostic of the species. The legs are yellow and the eyes are black.
