Kalij Pheasant

Range:

Found in the Himalayan foothills, from northern India to western Thailand.

Description:

They range in size from 20 – 29 cm.  The body is glossy blue-black, though with white to the rump or underparts in most subspecies.  Females tend to have brownish bodies.  Crest can be white or glossy black depending on the sub-species. Feathers can be tipped with black. Both sexes have a bare red face and greyish legs.
