Description:

Size: 37-41 cm in length.

Plumage: Breeding adults have barred chestnut undersides and mottled brown uppersides. Non-breeding adults are gray above and white below. All plumages have a black and white tail, a broad white wing stripe, and black wing linings. The bill is orange with a brown tip and the legs and eyes are brown.
