Gunnison Sage-Grouse

Other Names: Gunnison Grouse

Distribution: Sagebrush prairies of Utah and Colorado.


Size: 46-56 cm in length.

Plumage: Dark brown to chestnut overall, mottled with black and white and with a white breast. Males have long barred tail feathers, a yellow eyebrow stripe over each eye, a black throat and tuft of feathers on the back of the neck, and two bare buff air sacs on the breast. The legs, beak, and eyes are black.
