Description:

Size: 20-24 cm in length with a 41-46 cm wingspan.

Plumage: Both sexes have a dark greenish-brown back and wings, grayish head and breast and otherwise white undersides. It can be clearly identified when in flight, with wings that are dark above and below and a bright white rump. The back is variably spotted with white. The legs and short bill are both dark green.
