Greater Yellowlegs

Range:

Species is found in the  forest regions of Canada and Alaska.They migrate to the Atlantic and Pacific coasts of the United States and south to South America. Rarely seen in western Europe.

 

Description:

 Height is 29 -40 cm.  Plumage is a coarse, dark breast pattern as well as much black on the shoulders and back . They have long yellow legs and a long, thin, dark bill, which is curved slightly upward. The bill is longer than their head.  which has a slight upward curve and is longer than the head. They have a grey-brown body on top, white rear area and tail.  The neck and breast have dark brown streaks.
