Distribution / Range

Breed in Iceland, Norway, the Faroe Islands and the Scottish islands, with a few on mainland Scotland, and migrate south to winter  at sea in the Atlantic Ocean and regularly reaching North American waters.

Description:

This large seabird measures about 50–58cm in length and has a wingspan of about 125–140cm. Their tail is short and blunt.

Adults have a streaked greyish brown plumage, with a black cap.

Immature birds have a warmer brown plumage and are unstreaked below.
