Gambels Quail

Range:

Inhabits the desert regions of Arizona, California, Colorado, New Mexico, Nevada, Utah, Texas, and Sonora; also New Mexico-border Chihuahua and the Colorado River region of Baja California.

Description:

Height is 30cm.  Wingspan is 35-40 cm. Species has top knots and scaly plumage on their undersides. The plumage is mostly grey. Males have copper feathers on the top of their heads, black faces, with white stripes above their eyes. Short rounded wings and featherless legs.
