Gadwall

Range:

Breeds in the northern areas of Europe, Asia, central North America,Coastal Pacific Canada, and southern coastal Alaska. The range is expanding into the eastern North America. Has been introduced to Great Britain, Scotland and Ireland.

 

Description:

Height is 56 cm. Wingspan is 90 cm. Males are patterned grey, with a black rear end, light chestnut wings, and a brilliant white speculum. Also has less orange on the bill.  Females are light brown, with a dark orange-edged bill, smaller size, the white speculum, and white belly.
