Description:

Size: 10-11 cm in length with a 12-14 cm wingspan.

Plumage:  Both sexes are mostly light brown, with heavy dark streaks on the back and paler throat and vent coloration, a pale spot around each eye, and black and white tips on the tail feathers. Tail feathers extend into a fan shape that gives the species its name. Juveniles are yellower overall. The legs are pink and the beak and eyes are black.
