Distribution: mountainous forested regions of western Mexico.

Description:

Size: 33-36 cm in length with a 60-61 cm wingspan.

Plumage: Males have a dark green head, neck, shoulders, and upper breast. The female's head and breast are mostly brownish. Both have a bright rose-red belly and broad tail with a white underside. The legs are pale, the beak is pale with a black tip, and the eyes are black with white eyerings.
