Distribution: Mexico south through northern Brazil.

Description:

Size: 49-58 cm in length with a 120-130 cm wingspan.

Plumage: Adults are generally dark brown to black with a black cap and bare red face. The throat, neck, and base of the tail are white; the tip of the tail has a black band. Shows large white patches near the wing tips while in flight. The legs are yellow, the beak is bluish-gray, and the eyes are black.
