Distribution : mountainous areas of Mexico, south to Nicaragua.


Size: 11 cm in length with a 15 cm wingspan.

Plumage: Both sexes have yellow underparts, a gray head with a bold white eyebrow, and a greenish back. Adult males have a discrete chestnut crescent on the breast, which is less prominent and sometimes lacking in females and juveniles. The legs and beak are gray and the eyes are black.
