Description:

Size: 37-41 cm in length with a 63-69 cm wingspan.

Plumage: Generally brown with pale blue shoulder patches and darker flight and tail feathers. Males have a gray head and a white crescent in front of the eye. Females are generally mottled brownish-gray. The eyes are reddish-black and the bill is bluish-black.
