West Indies, except Cuba, on Tobago but not Trinidad, and along the northern coasts of Colombia and Venezuela.


About 10.2 cm long; and weigh 10.5 g.

Short cone-shaped black bill with an obvious curve to the culmen.

The male has a black head and chest; his back is olive green; the plumage below is a paler grey-olive.

The female is dull olive-grey above and paler below, turning whitish on the abdomen.
