Distribution: Breeds on arctic coasts of Greenland and Scandinavia; winters in northern Europe.

Description:

Size: 58-70 cm in length with a 120-142 cm wingspan.

Plumage: This small goose is easily identified by its black neck and chest, small white head, and gray striped back contrasting with a pale breast and underside. The wing mantle feathers are  gray with black bars, and flight feathers are gray with black tips. The legs and bill are black and the eyes are black with white eyelids and a thick black eyestripe extending to the base of the bill.
