Distribution: Subtropical montane forests of Mexico; may occasionally be found in Texas.

Description:

Size: 21.5-24 cm in length.

Plumage: Males have dark-streaked, brown-black upperparts, head, and upper breasts. Females have browner heads and breasts. The undersides are white with dark brown mottled flanks. Both sexes have dark wings with white shoulders and tips. The tail is dark with a broad white tip. The legs are pinkish-grey and the eyes and beak are black.
