Distribution: throughout the Caribbean.

Description:

Size: 20-22 cm in length with a 50-55 cm wingspan.

Plumage: The adults are dark brown with brown, gray and white patterning on the upperparts and breast; the long wings are black and show a white bar when flying. The tail is dark brown with white bars, and the undersides are white with black bars. The adult male has a white throat; the female has a light brown throat. The bill is dark brown and the eyes are black with thin white eyelids.
