Other Names: Eastern Goldfinch, Wild Canary
Distribution: United States and southern Canada. Canadian populations mograte south in winter.
Size: 11-13 cm in length with a 19-22 cm wingspan.
Plumage: Breeding males are bright yellow with a white rump, black forehead, white edges on black wings and tail, and yellow at the bend of the wing. Females and non-breeding males are duller and grayer with black wings, tail, and white wing bars. The legs are brown and the beak and eyes are black.
