Banggai Crows

Crow Information ... Raven Information Page ... Photos of Raven Species for Identification

The Banggai Crows (Corvus unicolor) are crows found in Banggai in Indonesia, hence their common name. They inhabit mountain forests at altitudes above 500 meters.

The Banggai Crows are black, medium-sized crows, measuring about 39 cm in length, including the short tail.

This species is listed as critically endangered by the International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources (IUCN), but was actually considered extinct, until it was rediscovered in 2007 and 2008.

The decline of its population was attributed to habitat loss and degradation.
