Roadrunners Species

Roadrunners are ground-foraging cuckoos. They are native to North and Central America. They are commonly seen walking rapidly, running down prey or occasionally jumping up to catch insects or small birds. They are capable of running at speeds of 24 km/h (15 miles per hour) or more. Even though they are capable of flight, they spend most of thes time on the ground.

Greater Roadrunner, Geococcyx californianus (found in southwestern United States)
Lesser Roadrunner, Geococcyx velox (found in Mexico and Central America)
