Description: Dull green; forehead, lores and chin lightly tinged with yellow;
throat, breast, abdomen and thighs yellowish-olive green; greater under wing-coverts bluish-green; primaries with
pale bluish-green to outer webs; tail underside bluish-green; bill greenish-grey; skin to narrow periophthalmic ring
grey; iris dark brown; cere and feet dark pinkish-flesh color. Female with less or without yellowish tinge to
forehead, lores and chin; tail mostly more pointed than male. Immatures as female and with shoter tail.
Length: 17 cm (6.5 ins), tail length 55 - 70 mm (2 - 2.75 ins)

Distribution: Highlands of Peru, northern Bolivia
Note: Many aviculturists and some museums frequently confuse Bolborhynchus orbygnesius with female of Bolborhynchus
aurifrons margaritae or Bolborhynchus aurifrons rubrirostris, which also have dark colored bill; both species can
be easily identified from tail length (in Bolborhynchus aurifrons usually over 70 mm (2.75 ins) and shape
(B. aurifrons long and pointed, B. orbygnesius short and broad).

Description: General plumage green; forehead, crown, back of head, nape, lores and ear-coverts dark grey; cheeks, throat and upper breast whitish-grey; upper abdomen pale bluish-grey, lower bluish-green; thighs yellowish-green; tail underside dusky green; bill horn-colored; narrow periophthalmic ring grey; iris brown; cere and feet pink-flesh color, occasionally also grey. Female on average with paler dark grey crown area; breast duller. Immatures with shorter tail; bill grey; adult plumage attained at 8 months.

Female without yellow on forehead, lores; cheeks and abdomen; bill horn-colored. Immatures as female and with shorter tail; young males bred in aviculture have pronounced yellow face markings.
